Prime Minister recently visited Ipswich on a mission to promote his apprentiship scheme. His flying visit had it at the new university, and then over to BT and then a quick meeting with a small, medium and large company…

We were the small (but perfectly formed). It was an exciting morning for all and Ian managed to get snapped grinning like an idiot after shaking his hand…

So whether you like him, or loath him, we saw him and we plan on helping the job market by taking on more staff and taking on more work experience people and apprentices…

Debug Eshots is built for people who can would like to create their own eshots or choose from a large selection of templates. This software sends each campaign, tracks the results and manages the subscribers. You can see screenshots of exactly how your email will look in more than 15 of the most popular email clients like Outlook 2007, Windows Live Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, Lotus Notes etc. Instead of scanning your content for “spammy words”, the tool passes emails through real spam filters and tells you exactly why you failed. The e-mail is also run through a number of key spam firewalls - the gatekeepers for most ISP’s and large corporations.

Our fee is a measly £3.00 delivery charge and 1p an email so its well worth getting set up and start sending email marketing campaigns TODAY. Contact us for a FREE Account

Here are some best practices for optimal e-mail delivery rates.[source]

Avoid follow-ups, ask for a brief feedback — one word “soon” is enough.
Since you don’t know whether your e-mail is delivered or not, don’t assume that it is delivered. However, don’t send a follow-up in doubt; follow-ups which usually include the copy of an original e-mail aren’t effective and get on recipients’ nerves. Instead ask the recipient in the first message to send you a brief note that your e-mail was received. For instance, ask to write back “soon”, “got it” etc. once they’ve received the e-mail — indicate that no further comment or instant reply to your mail is necessary.

Don’t attach large files to your first e-mail (unless specified by the employer).
Instead provide the detailed information on where the your CV and portfolio can be found on your personal web-site. Or simply copy and paste your resume in your e-mail. Compressed files (.zip, .tar etc.) and images are still strong signals for spam detection algorithms.

Use a consistent senders’ name and email.
Make it easier for your recipient to recognize you. Don’t change from “Max Mutermann” to “Developer’s team”. Don’t change your e-mail suddenly. Once your recipient has mistakenly considered and reported your message as spam you are likely to never be able to contact them again.

Never put a link before important information.
Once the recipient has clicked upon the link you’ve provided and landed on some page he/she has no information about, you’re lost. Many recipients might not get back to your message and report you as spam.

Snail mail is bulletproof.
If possible, follow-up on your e-mail with a “snail mail” version sent to the real postal address. This is a great way to establish contact and stay in touch with a person! Reference the e-mailed version you sent (including the date, time, and subject if possible).

Avoid fictional or irrelevant sender’s name.
Communicate with your recipient personally. Instead of nicknames or company titles use your first and last name. Notice that spam-filters award e-mails without sender’s name (or with an empty name) with spam score points. The sender’s name shouldn’t include numbers or symbols rather than your actual name. Instead of “no-reply@yourdomain” or “admin@yourdomain” provide your readers with concrete and short contact information, e.g. “Max Mustermann” . The “reply-to” field shouldn’t be empty.

In a new move to target specialised markets, Fred Olsen is making a series of specified websites for their new range of market specifc cruises. Debug Design first Created Fred Olsen Civilisations back in 2006. Civilisations historical theme tailors each cruise around a certain area which include Greek Mythology, Great Plant Collectors, Polar Exploration, ancient polynesian culture, ancient civilisations, Celtic history, great artists and many more. see it here: http://www.fredolsencruises-civilisations.co.uk/

The site was such a success Fred Olsen has now has expanded their range of cruises but also began more specialist cruises such as Flagship Golf. Flagship Golf gives golf lovers of all ages a world tour of golf courses allowing the golfer to play famous courses all over including, the Caribbean, Europe, the Mediterranean and many more.

Small businesses in the UK are increasingly turning towards Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) to get noticed. SEO plays a key role in driving more traffic to a website, thus improving its business potential.

While SEO is a powerful tool, it does not yield results if not used properly. So, here are ten SEO tips to direct relevant traffic to your website.

1. Add your company name, address and contact number to your website
Use a standard format to add this information across pages on your website. Search engines are increasingly recognising addresses from various websites and adding them to their databases. If you provide your contact details in the universally accepted format, it will be easier for search engines to identify and pick out this information from the rest of the contact.

2. Submit company information to Google Local
Google is the most widely used search engine across the world, with a more than 65% share of the market. Creating a Google Local profile will enable you to enter detailed information about your business, which can then be available to people searching for related information online.

3. Make use of an analytic program to improve your site
An analytic program allows you to track activity on your website. Knowing about the people who visit your website can help you in further optimising your site to suit their preferences. One such program is Google Analytics, which can be installed free of cost. Google Analytics provides you with crucial information regarding your visitors, including how they found your site and which pages they visited.

4. Check the title of all web pages
The titles are a pointer to the relevance of each web page to the search terms being used in a search engine. A title, such as Welcome or Home, does not show the search engine or the searcher the information contained on the web page. The result is a lower number of people willing to click on the site link and less relevance to the search terms used to seek your information.

5. Submit your business information across as many free directories as you can
Enter business information in directories such as Yahoo! and DMOZ. Do the same in any directory related to your niche and location.

6. Optimise keywords
The key to best results is the use of relevant keywords. To identify the relevant keywords, put yourself in your target reader’s shoes and ask yourself what you would type if you were looking for the business you are in. These key-phrases and keywords should become part of the content on your site.

7. Build a sitemap of your website and submit it on search engines
A sitemap is quite simply a map of your website. For websites that have yet to be found by search engines, a sitemap is the easiest way to let them know everything you have on your website.

8. Add META tags
META tags, which are used to list keywords relevant to a web page, were at one time the most important factor on which website rating was based on search engines. Even though the importance of META tags relative to keywords has declined, they still need to be included across every page on your website.

9. Validate your HTML code
The syntax of the HTML code used on your website must be validated. This would ensure the structural correctness of your website and improve the chances of a search engine reading your site correctly. During the validation, common mistakes can also be caught and rectified, which would help your on-page search engine optimisation.

10. Choose your SEO company wisely
While you consider which SEO company to choose for your business, avoid going by the recommendations written on the webpage of any SEO company. Do your own research on the industry. Beware a web designer or developer offering SEO services as it is a full time job. Use a company who specialise in SEO. Debug Design have partner company who we work with on various projects. Each SEO client gets a dedicated account manager and a personal service from an SEO specialist.

Living in an innovation centre (as we do now) means we are privy to all kinds of new technologies. This week was no different as we recently had installed a new thumb print reader to ensure our hands are who they say they say they are. Of course all our designers hands are insured for millions as they can create some of the greatest designs seen to man (and woman) but now they have a new reason to wash the tea and biscuits from them in order to enter the building!

If you would like a go on our new toy, or if you would like to see our thumbs in action please do not hesitate to contact us!
